Experience:

She started her career in 1994, as an assistant green house manager at Kumar Gen-Tech and Tissue Culture co., Pune and worked on hardening of Banana, Gerbera and cultivation of Banana, Gerbera, Lilium and Gladiolus.

As a scientist and in charge of green house and farm at the Kelkar Education Trust’s Scientific Research Centre, Mulund, Mumbai she contributed significantly in standardizing the hardening and cultivation protocol for Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin); Standardized the hardening protocol for Geranium, Mentha and Stevia. She conducted regular training programmes for farmers on multiplication and popularization of the patchouli crop on commercial level in India. She was also responsible for conservation of germplasm of several rare medicinal and aromatic plants (around 150 species).

She prepared the entire syllabus for the “Post Graduate Diploma in Horticulture”, at Advanced Study Centre, Bandodkar College, Thane and also worked as a visiting faculty for three years. In 2005, she took up a full time lecturership in Biotechnology Department at K. V. Pendharkar College, Dombivli, Dist. Thane.

She was also engaged in Agriculture consultancy through M/S Chaitrapalavi Agri- Consultants in the capacity of proprietor.

She exhibited effective mass communication skills particularly on Television, Radio and speeches for catering technical knowhow to the farming community. She anchored in around 200 Agricultural Programme ‘Krushidarshan’ telecast on Dooradarshan Marathi channel, Sahyadri for six years.

She delivered her research work at various national level conferences and seminars.

In 2012, she joined KF Bioplants Pvt Ltd, Pune as a green house manager. Her core area of work included protected cultivation and screening of new codes and varieties of floricultural and vegetable crops for their growth, productivity, susceptibility to pest and diseases and market acceptability in the Indian market. The crops handled were Gerbera, Carnation, Rose, Gypsophila, Limonium, Chrysanthemum, Calla Lily, Dendrobium, Capsicum, Cucumber, different types of Tomato and Musk Melon. She handled 9-10 crops and 300-400 varieties at a time. She developed a good hand on growing techniques of these crops in soil as well as artificial media. Her major interest was effective use of organic pesticides and fertilizers in cultivation of these crops. She was the in charge of rose propagation. She visited Ecuador for the same. She significantly contributed to the protocol standardization of soil less cultivation of rose.

Her area of operations is Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
