In 1996, Vijaykumar Thorat joined as an executive in a leading tissue culture company KF Bioplants Pvt. Ltd. During his tenure of 17 years he worked on each and every aspect of the protected cultivation in various agro -climatic zones of India and neighbouring countries. As a head of Technical team, he significantly contributed and developed cultivation protocols for various floricultural and vegetable crops. He pioneered the use of nano silver based hydrogen peroxide in agriculture especially, for soil disinfection and management of bacterial blight of pomegranate. This is an ecofriendly and farmer friendly technology; beneficial over all the traditional and previously used methods of soil disinfection.
He has expertise in protected cultivation of floriculture crops like Gerbera, Carnation, Anthurium, Orchids, Gypsophila, Limonium, Calla Lily, etc. He also has the experience of protected as well as open field cultivation of horticulture crops like Capsicum, Tomato, Cucumber, Melons, Pomegranate, Strawberry, etc.
He hosted numerous field visits and technical training sessions for the benefit of farmers.
He visited Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Nepal for the exchange of technical knowhow.
With a great experience of last 20 years, he has earned an authority in the field of Agriculture, viz. Olericulture, Floriculture, Pomology and Nutrient & Water management.
His core area of operation is almost all over the country especially Maharashtra, Telangana, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Odessa and Karnataka.
He is officially and closely associated with North Bengal Floritech, West Bengal since last 4 years to provide technical support to their esteem growers and Government organizations in North Eastern states of India.
He himself is a poly house grower cultivating crops like cucumber, tomato, capsicum, carnation and roses since last 8 years. He is also engaged in the production and supply of tissue culture hardened banana plants, vegetables seedlings and sugarcane saplings.
